The Winged ManA signature sculpture is always a challenge as it has to make the desired impact. It is more creative a challenge when it is 14 feet high and cantilever in position. Each work of art demands different materials and techniques and each material and technique has its own different demands which need to be fulfilled. That is what art is about, being open to all questions. The challenge in this work of art was to build a 14 ft tall cantilever figure that stands merely on its toes. Keeping the physical balance and simultaneously maintaining the anatomy of the figure was significant.
This winged man is sculpted in clay and casted in FRP for the lobby of the famed Ahuja Towers in Worli, Mumbai. Coloured in bronze with an oxidised effect gives this sculpture a rustic yet contemporary look.
